    The question comes up from time to time when Jon Preston meets with the parents of prospective students: “What can my child do with a degree in game development?” Preston, the dean of Kennesaw State University’s College of Computing and Software Engineering, usually responds by asking the parents to think more broadly about what constitutes a game. Those who graduate from the University with a degree in computer game design and development don’t necessarily have to land jobs at entertainment gaming giants like Electronic Arts or Activision, he tells them. They might also apply the technical game development skills they’ve acquired for traditional companies like Home Depot and Coca-Cola.  –  October 25, 2018

  • Professor works to combat opioid addiction in rural Georgia

    With roughly 90 people dying from opioid overdoses every day in America, the addiction crisis continues to be a struggle for many, especially in rural communities. Evelina Sterling, assistant professor of sociology at Kennesaw State, is tackling the epidemic of opioid abuse among pregnant women in rural communities, by finding ways to improve healthcare and legislative aid for them.  –  October 24, 2018

  • Cellular Research

    Each year, thousands of undergraduates from all over the United States participate in the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). NCUR, the largest conference on undergraduate research in the country, features work from some of the nation’s best and the brightest students. Kennesaw State, which will serve as the host institution for NCUR 2019 April 11-13, had almost 100 students present at this year’s conference at the University of Central Oklahoma campus in Edmond.   • Kennesaw State physicists awarded NSF grants

    Kennesaw State’s two theoretical particle physicists, Nikolaos Kidonakis and Marco Guzzi, have each been awarded a major National Science Foundation grant to tackle the fundamental questions of the universe. The grants, which total $288,830, will fund their individual projects to improve theoretical predictions in particle production experiments conducted at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).  –  October 19, 2018
