  • Committed to Caring

As a professional counselor, Kennesaw State University alumnus Kim Duff specializes in helping people who have some type of disability. Overcoming challenges is something she knows well. At 12 years old, Duff was diagnosed with brain cancer and told she had six months to live. After beating those odds, she lost her sight at age 16 and suffered partial paralysis to her left side. She persevered, earning her psychology degree from Kennesaw State in 2000; completing her master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling; and working for several years as a counselor for a technical college, providing general counseling for Medicaid clients through various agencies, and as the Cobb County counselor for the blind for the state of Georgia. She opened her own practice, Overcomers Counseling, in 2016.  –  November 21, 2018

  • Kennesaw State technology making it easier for students to access no-cost, low-cost textbooks

Kennesaw State is making it easier for students to find courses at the University that can save them money. Working with KSU’s Academic Affairs, Registrar and bookstore personnel, the University’s Information Technology Services team made modifications to a student-facing course registration system and created a new search process that makes it easier for students to find courses that offer low-cost (under $40) or no-cost textbooks. The implementation is part of the University System of Georgia’s Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG) initiative, which was launched in 2014 to promote student success by supporting the implementation of affordable alternatives to textbooks.  –  November 21, 2018
