Kennesaw State University undergraduate and graduate researchers will be presenting their projects at the spring edition of the Symposium of Student Scholars on Tuesday, April 19.

 

Following the successful run of a hybrid fall symposium, the Office of Undergraduate Research will host the event again in the same format, which includes in-person presentations on the Kennesaw Campus and online presentations. 

More than 650 students will be showcasing over 400 research and creative scholarship projects from an array of disciplines, including mechanical engineering, psychology and music.

“With the evolution to virtual formats changing the landscape of presenting, we opted for a hybrid event this year offering students unique presenting opportunities both virtually and in person,” said Amy Buddie, director of undergraduate research and symposium organizer. “This is the first time the spring symposium will be hosted on campus since 2018 so we are happy to be able to celebrate our students in person.”

Concurrent sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The posters and art displays will be held in the University Rooms in the Carmichael Student Center. Oral presentations and performances will be held in the Bagwell College of Education, Carmichael Student Center and English building on the Kennesaw Campus. There will be a virtual option using Microsoft Teams or pre-recorded videos for presenters unable to attend in person. Virtual presentations will occur via Microsoft Teams, and pre-recorded videos will be posted online in Digital Commons. 

The symposium is free and open to the public, with refreshments provided throughout the day in the Carmichael Student Center. Prizes for top presentations by undergraduate and graduate researchers will be awarded. The recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award will also be recognized.
