KSU’s graduate enrollment increases for summer term

KENNESAW, Ga. | Jul 7, 2020

Summer enrollment for graduate students at Kennesaw State University increased more than 14 percent over last year, of which 6 percent are newly admitted and 24 percent are returning graduate students, according to data from the Graduate College.

This increase represents the third consecutive year that enrollment in KSU’s graduate programs have grown. Over the past three years, including fall, spring and summer semesters, the University has experienced an average increase of 9 percent in graduate enrollment.

“This growth is a testament to the value of the KSU brand, the quality of the education that our graduate programs deliver and the University’s commitment to outstanding service and experience,” said Sheb True, interim dean of the Graduate College. “As a result, more and more applicants, who have many choices for their graduate education, recognize the opportunities and return-on-investment that KSU offers.”

Graduate programs at Kennesaw State that saw the largest enrollment increases this summer include the Michael J. Coles College of Business (30 percent), the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (24 percent), the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services (12%), and the Bagwell College of Education (9 percent).

“Over the past several years we have worked to educate our current and newly admitted students about the importance of maintaining their studies through the summer semester,” said Mark Forehand, senior assistant dean for the Graduate Enrollment Management. “We are pleased to see how many are using this as an opportunity to move through their programs faster, which translates into their ability to benefit more quickly from the investment that they are making in themselves.”

Overall, KSU’s summer enrollment has grown significantly over the past two years to more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students this summer. This marks a 14 percent increase from last year’s summer enrollment and more than a 20 percent rise from just two years ago.
