Panel to discuss geography of civil rights theme

A panel of scholars will discuss “The Geography of the Civil Rights Movement” on Monday, Nov. 13 as part of Kennesaw State University’s national Geography Awareness Week observation. The panel’s theme reflects the focus for this year’s  weeklong national observance.

The panelists will join geographers and educators around the nation who will be exploring the National Geographic's Network of Alliances for Geographic Education’s geography of the civil rights movement theme throughout the week. Kennesaw State’s panel discussion is co-sponsored by the Department of Geography and Anthropology and the Presidential Commission on Racial & Ethnic Dialogue.

The theme is endorsed by the American Association of Geographers, the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE), the American Geographical Society (AGS), and the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG) have endorsed this focus on civil rights.
