Multi-year Partnership between Kennesaw State and Dickey Broadcasting Company
KENNESAW, Ga.
(Jul 7, 2016) — Kennesaw State University and Dickey Broadcasting Company are proud to announce the
signing of a multi-year partnership that makes ESPN Radio 1230 The Fan 2 (WFOM-AM)
the exclusive radio home of the Owls' football team.
Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams was in 680 The Fan studios on Thursday morning
to make the announcement, joining The Front Row with Steak Shapiro, Sandra Golden
and Brian Finneran.
“There is no radio brand in the Southeast more synonymous with college football than
The Fan,” said Williams. “We are thrilled to join the Dickey family and solidify ESPN
Radio 1230 The Fan 2 as the long-term radio home for the Owls. I want to personally
thank David Dickey and his staff as we look forward to a tremendous partnership. This
is a great day for the Owls and our fans as we continue to advance the KSU brand in
the region.”
The agreement gives Kennesaw State its first radio rights deal for football, while
helping expand KSU’s brand within the college football-rich Southeast. KSU joins the
Dickey Broadcasting Company, which already includes radio partners Georgia Tech, University
of Georgia, Georgia State University and the Atlanta Braves.
“We are excited to expand Dickey Broadcasting Company's unprecedented college football
coverage through our exciting partnership with KSU,” said The Fan's President David
Dickey. “Vaughn Williams and his team have done an incredible job of launching KSU
football, and we look forward to helping them create and distribute market-exclusive
content, for all KSU students, fans and sponsors to enjoy.”
Kennesaw State's inaugural season of football came last year, with the Owls going
6-5 under head coach Brian Bohannon and selling out all six home games at Fifth Third
Bank Stadium.
KSU's broadcast team of play-by-play voice Brian Giffin, analyst Tutan Reyes and sideline
reporter Art Eckman, who called all 11 games last season on the internet, will remain
as the broadcast team as KSU moves to ESPN Radio 1230 The Fan 2 this fall.
