KENNESAW, Ga. (Jan. 30, 2015) — As Kennesaw State University continues to prepare for the debut of football in 2015, another milestone has been reached with the unveiling of a uniform for the marching band.
Debra Traficante, director of athletic bands, will direct “The Marching Owls,” which will play a major role in the game day atmosphere during KSU home games at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
“There is nothing more iconic for a collegiate marching band than the uniform the members wear,” said Traficante. “This next step in ‘The Marching Owls’ development is big for us as an organization, and we couldn't be more excited to share our uniforms with everyone.”
Fruhauf Uniforms, Inc., a major uniform company for the marching band industry, has designed and constructed the official uniform for “The Marching Owls.” Fruhauf started in the early 1900s and is based in Wichita, Kansas.
Traficante and the Fruhauf design team have been working on the development of the uniform to make sure it meets the following criteria: classic, collegiate, traditional, and classy. The process has taken approximately seven months to create the final look, which was unveiled this week.
“There are still aspects of the program to be built, but every day that passes gets us closer to our first time marching down the field and cheering on our favorite team!" Traficante said. "GO OWLS!”
There will be several information sessions to give prospective marching band students an inside look at “The Marching Owls,” the first of which will be Feb. 10 in the KSU Center beginning at 3 p.m.
Interested students are encouraged to register online to attend a session in the spring. For additional information about the program, please contact Traficante at email@example.com or call (470) 578-6426.
