Georgia (Aug 27, 2013) — University’s focus on access and identification allows for better workflow
KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug. 27, 2013) — Kennesaw State University was recently honored for development of internal software by the Southeastern Software Association (SSA), a founding member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).
Kennesaw State’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department achieved the highest honor in the 2013 TAG SSA Impact Awards in the Corporate IT Group, for developing software solutions for internal business needs that resulted in either reducing costs or improving operational efficiency to increase profitability.
The University was honored for its customized approach to Net ID solutions, which involve all university constituents, including students, faculty and staff who log in and have an account at Kennesaw State. The University rivaled companies such as AT&T Mobility, Manheim, East West Manufacturing and LeasePlan USA.
“Winning this award, after winning last year’s grand prize award for mobile apps in government, is exciting,” said Lectra Lawhorne, executive director of Information Technology Services. “While being cognizant of security and risk factors in software development, our ITS team worked across all parts of the organization to bring efficient and accurate software solutions to our customers in order to improve the workflow and automation of processes for the entire University community.”
Last year, Kennesaw State’s ITS department won the grand prize for the university’s campus directory mobile website in TAG’s competition for mobile apps in government. The campus directory mobile app allows anyone with Internet access to easily locate current contact information for faculty and staff.
As the state's preeminent technology association, TAG plays an important role in connecting more than 17,000 members with peers and decision makers at every level of an organization. TAG conducts more than 200 meetings and special events every year around the state.
