Kennesaw State’s own take the stage for final Starlight concert

(July 25, 2012) — The Kennesaw State University College of the Arts presents the KSU Faculty Jazz
Parliament as part of the 2012
Starlight Summer Concert Series. This event will showcase a night of jazz at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater on campus
on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $8 and the public is invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic items
to the performance.
The KSU Faculty Jazz Parliament, led by
Sam Skelton, KSU director of jazz studies, will be performing jazz standards as well as some
original compositions. Faculty performers include Sam Skelton, saxophone, as band
leader;
Trey Wright, lecturer in jazz, on jazz guitar;
Tyrone Jackson, artist-in-residence in jazz, on jazz piano;
Wes Funderburk, jazz ensembles, on trombone;
Justin Chesarek, jazz percussion, on drums and
Marc Miller, instructor, on bass.
“It is always a pleasure to be able to showcase some of 'our own', and to present
to the community the wealth of talent we have here at KSU,” says
David Daly, director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. “These musicians
are some of the finest jazz artists in the area, and having them share the stage together
is going to make for some magical moments.”
Admission at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater opens at 6 p.m. General admission
tickets are $8 and table reservations for six are $75. Table reservations must be made at
