KENNESAW‚ Ga. (Aug. 10‚ 2007) — For the first time in the institution’s history‚ Kennesaw State University is introducing a new bus shuttle system set to begin Monday‚ Aug. 13. Kennesaw State‚ the third−largest public university in Georgia‚ is the eighth−largest employer in Cobb County.

Kennesaw State employees experienced a trial run of the new shuttle system today‚ with full service starting at 4:45 a.m. Monday with an eight−bus fleet.

Major construction projects set to begin on the KSU campus in the coming weeks – including a 2‚600−space central parking deck and a new student residence hall – have impacted existing parking lots‚ dictating the need for employees to park off site. More than 500 people already have signed up for the initial phase of off−campus parking.

“I am grateful for the large number of employees who have volunteered to use the shuttle service‚” President Daniel S. Papp said. “Their efforts will go a long way in helping the university address our transportation needs.”

Kennesaw State secured two off−campus locations for employee parking. The shuttle buses will run in continuous loops from the temporary parking lots to designated stops on the institution’s grounds. Service from the Bank of America deck‚ located off of Town Park Drive‚ will run from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.‚ and service from the Town Point lot‚ located south of Chastain Road‚ will occur from 4:45 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Shuttle buses will operate from both locations Monday through Friday. The service will be provided by First Transit‚ Inc.
